Some huge news in the Poker world flew under the radar recently. Antanas Guoga aka Tony G just destroyed the world record for the largest poker hand ever won online. He was playing a 3-handed $5,000/$10,000 PLO game on CoinPoker and when the final card was dealt he won a record-setting $7,750,652 pot.

Tony G is a well-known pro. There’s a good chance you’ve seen him on TV before during one of ESPN’s World Series of Poker broadcasts. He’s made 5 WSOP final tables and cashed 20 times for a total of $1,607,711 just in WSOP earnings. On top of that, Tony G has cashed $556K in the World Poker Tour and he’s been incredibly successful at casino tournaments for a career tournament earnings total of $7,679,795.

That’s a lot of money, right? Well, Tony G just smashed the poker record for the largest hand ever won online and he raked in more than his career tournament earnings in a single hand.

Tony G was playing a 3-handed $5,000/$10,000 PLO game on CoinPoker. The betting rules in Pot-Limit Omaha dictate that max betting is restricted to the size of the pot. In some instances, this means pots remain relatively small as the action is handcuffed but as you can see here there’s functionally no difference from an all-in in No-Limit because of how quickly the pot size grows.

Tony G Destroys Record For Largest Poker Hand Ever Won Online With $7.750M Pot

Tony G flopped a 10-J-Q-K-A straight (and a pair) while Hannibal Getya was chasing the nut flush and a full house after flopping 4 to a flush and two pair. It’s definitely a hand I’d have gotten all my money in on if I was in Hannibal Getya’s seat but never in seven million years would I be playing for stakes that high.

Crypto Poker Is All The Rage Now

The CoinPoker platform has exploded on the scene in recent weeks. Tony G himself was involved in (then) record-setting $1.8 million poker hand in January against Leon Tsoukernik, owner of King’s Resort. That pot broke a record that’s stood since 2009 when Patrik Antonius won a $1.3 million pot on Full Tilt Poker against Viktor “Isildur1” Blom in $500/$1,000 PLO.

According to Mark Pearson at Vegas Slots Online, Tony G is by in the crypto space and has hyped up bitcoin in front of the European Parliament. And in addition to CoinPoker there are some other crypto poker competitors in the space, one of them backed by poker legend Phil Ivey.

What Is CoinPoker, The Poker Room Where Records Are Broken?

They call themselves a “crypto-based poker room created by players, for players.” Simple enough to understand, right?

CoinPoker’s website lists that they’ve partnered with other high-profile poker players including Rob Campbell (a.k.a. robcampbell) and Simonin Owen (a.k.a. Hasheur) as well as poker news outlets including High Stakes Database and Poker News. I haven’t actually checked out the gameplay myself yet beyond watching those videos above but it is intriguing.
