Referees appeared to miss an obvious call in the Giants vs. Vikings playoff game. That missed penalty came on a New York touchdown pass, making the mistake even more crucial.

On the first quarter scoring strike, left tackle Andrew Thomas looked to jump a bit early. The defensive end lined up across from Thomas pointed the early movement out to officials, but they never blew the play dead.

Quarterback Daniel Jones quickly threw a pass to the endzone, which was hauled in by wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins to give the Giants a 14-7 lead. Fans were quick to post their reactions to seeing the missed call.

One fan wrote, “NFL referees are trash these playoffs.” Another person commented, “That was really bad.”

The play could prove to be costly for the Vikings in a game that’s been back and forth all night. The Giants currently lead 31-24 in the fourth quarter of action, with neither team leading by more than 10 points over the course of the game.

Minnesota, the No. 2 seed, won 13 games this season, but many have doubted their status as a legitimate championship contender. New York, on the other hand, limped into the postseason, losing two of their last three matchups.

The winner of this game will move on to play in the divisional round while keeping their hopes of a Super Bowl title alive. For the loser, their season will end.
