While it may feel like it’s been months, it’s only been 14 days since the PGA Tour officially announced that the remainder of The Players and a number of other tournaments were canceled.

Since then a number of other tournaments have been canceled, both the Masters and the PGA Championship have been postponed without a mention of rescheduling dates, plus the U.S. Open could be moved as well. When it comes to golf, just like every other sport right now, the unknowns far outweigh the knowns as nobody has any sort of idea when things could, or ever will, get back to normal in 2020.

Just like everyone else out there, Rory McIlroy has his own thoughts about what the schedule could look like for the rest of the year. He thinks that if they get back to playing in mid-summer then we could be looking at all four majors, the Ryder Cup and the FedEx Cup being played in a 12-week stretch.

While there are so many moving parts regarding the scheduling of all of these events on top of the remaining PGA Tour schedule, McIlroy’s idea here doesn’t sound too bad. If all the parties involved could find a way to work out McIlroy’s proposed schedule, we’d be in store for some seriously great, meaningful golf in a very short amount of time.

You’d be tough to find any fan or player that would say no to this idea not only because the excitement but due to the fact the six biggest events on this year’s calendar would be played and not canceled or postponed into 2021.
