Gamecocks Use Soulja Boy Themed Pettiness To Troll Kentucky (Again)

South Carolina picked up an SEC win over Kentucky on Saturday, leading to the ultimate troll. The Gamecocks used Soulja Boy to jab the Wildcats and head coach Mark Stoops.

The hit came in reference to comments made by Stoops prior to the 2022 season, where he questioned the culture being built in Columbia.

While he didn’t call the Gamecocks out by name, many believed the shot to be directed at second-year head coach Shane Beamer.

“I’ve talked years ago about climate vs. culture,” Stoops said in a preseason interview. “It’s easy to change a climate. You just change your uniforms, talk some game, dance around, put on some stupid sunglasses… But to change a culture is at the core.”

South Carolina previously posted a video of Beamer rapping “Turn My Swag On” during the offseason, joining in on a then-viral trend. That clip seemed to spurn Stoops’ remarks.

The Gamecocks remembered Stoops’ comments after picking up a win in Lexington last season, celebrating to Soulja Boy in the locker room.

This year, they got the entire stadium involved.

With the final seconds ticking from the clock, the song blasted across the loudspeakers in Williams-Brice Stadium.

Gamecock fans had everything to be excited for during that come-from-behind win. South Carolina overcame a 14-10 fourth quarter deficit as Spencer Rattler connected with Xavier Legette for a touchdown with eight minutes left.

The defense did its job over the final minutes of the game, keeping the Wildcats off the scoreboard.

The scenes were incredible in Columbia throughout the night thanks to a live in-game performance from DJ Darude, who played “Sandstorm” in front of 80k screaming fans.

The techno hits and light shows had fans feeling like they were at a rave as opposed to a football game, and the exciting ending to the contest allowed those in attendance to continue riding that high.

And while it was Darude who kicked off the festivities on the field for South Carolina, it was Soulja Boy being heard in the final moments of that Kentucky win.
