Steve Kerr Seems Oddly Confident That Klay Thompson Won’t Leave The Warriors As Rumors About His Future Continue To Swirl

I’ve watched plenty of shows featuring incredibly rich and successful people living on the coast of California, but if I’ve learned anything from binging The O.C. and Laguna Beach, it’s that there’s trouble in paradise more often than not.

From an outsider’s perspective, there’s not much to complain about if you’re the Golden State Warriors. After decades of mediocrity and broken dreams, the franchise finally managed to turn things around a few years ago and is currently well in the hunt for its fourth title since 2015.

However, that doesn’t necessarily mean all is well out in the Bay Area.

The Warriors came into the season knowing it would end with both Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson entering free agency, and as the year has progressed, it’s started to look more and more likely that the former is planning on taking his talents elsewhere once things wrap up (even if Guy Fieri gives it his all).

The consensus seems to be we’ll see KD in a Knicks jersey when everything is said and done, and if a recent report is to be believed, the Warriors are preparing for the possibility that Thompson could also jet.

To make things worse, Woj dropped a bomb on Tuesday that suggested Thompson isn’t exactly thrilled with his current situation and is tired of picking up the scraps from Durant and Steph Curry.

Of course, that situation could partially be rectified if Durant was no longer there to throw food off the table in Thompson’s direction but it’s also unclear how disgruntled he really is and how that could impact his decisions in the future.

So how worried are the Warriors? Not in the slightest—at least if a new ESPN article is to be believed.

The outlet chatted with a number of members of the organization about the impending free agencies the team is facing—including Steve Kerr, who had this to say about Thompson’s future with the team:

“I know that everybody—coaches, management, ownership—everybody wants Klay back. I think the feeling is just, Klay wants to be here, we want Klay.”

Kerr seems to have the same feeling about the Thompson situation as I did with my high school crush and that did not pan out how I would have preferred. I hope he has a happier ending than I did.
