Former MLB pitcher Trevor Bauer might be looking to make a return to the bigs. The Cy Young winner made a pitch to Major League Baseball clubs on social media this week, offering teams a low risk, high reward signing.

Bauer has been out of the league since 2021 as he’s dealt with a number of legal battles which contributed to a lengthy suspension. With some of those troubles now behind him, he could have an eye on the future.

In the ’21 campaign, Bauer was accused of a sexual assault while playing for the Dodgers. While he denied those allegations and claimed his innocence, the MLB issued him a 2-year suspension.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office opted not to press charges against Bauer in the case, and that suspension would later be lifted, though he’d still remain unable to play after being released by the Dodgers.

With all that’s transpired over these last two years, many wonder if the pitcher will ever play in the MLB again.

He’s making his case for teams to give him a look.

The flamethrower responded to a social media post from Gary Sheffield, Jr. listing the benefit of a big-league team taking a chance.

“Blake Snell is going to get hundreds of millions of dollars on a multi year deal. And he should,” Bauer wrote.

“He deserves it. For a team that doesn’t want to commit multi years, hundreds of millions of dollars, or many elite prospects for a Cy young award winner, they could sign me for league minimum and pay 0 incremental dollars over what they have to pay to that roster spot anyway. Just another option for teams that want to win and don’t want to break the bank.”

The perfect buy-low opportunity for a club looking to add a proven arm? Maybe so.

Trevor Bauer has been playing in Japan of late, seeing some ups and downs in Nippon Pro Baseball. Through it all, he still firmly believes that he’s one of the best pitchers in the world.

Bauer obviously thinks he’s deserving of another shot, and some of his former Dodger teammates have been heard echoing that sentiment.

Bauer won the Cy Young award in 2020 after leading the MLB in ERA during a shortened COVID season. Over 10 years in the bigs, the righty posted an 83-69 overall record across stints with the Diamondbacks, Guardians, Reds, and Dodgers.
