Trevor Bauer is still making his pitch to get back to Major League Baseball. The former Cy Young winner has been out of the bigs for some time following a suspension amid legal battles.

That absence dates back to the 2021 season when he was a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Since, he’s been hoping to make a return.

During that ’21 campaign, Bauer was accused of an assault. While he maintained his innocence, the MLB handed down a lengthy two-year suspension.

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office opted not to press charges against Bauer in the case, and that suspension would later be lifted, though he’d still remain unable to play after being released by the Dodgers.

Now, he feels ready to contribute at the highest level, going as far as to market himself to MLB teams as a low risk, high reward addition.

“For a team that doesn’t want to commit multi years, hundreds of millions of dollars, or many elite prospects for a Cy young award winner, they could sign me for league minimum,” he wrote on his X feed earlier this offseason.

He’s continued to chase that dream of making an MLB return this spring.

Trevor Bauer will pitch against the Yankees in Spring Training…

As a member of the Mexican Baseball League.

That start will come on March 24th with Bauer playing for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico.

Bauer announced that news on his social media feeds Monday while lending reasoning behind the unique move.

“I’ve also agreed to pitch 5 games for the Diablos between April 11 and May 8 in lieu of a traditional spring training period as it’s the best way for me to stay ready to pitch,” he wrote on X. “This will help me stay in game shape and I’ll be able to join a rotation immediately if or when an MLB offer comes.”

Will he impress someone enough to take a chance? We’ll see on Sunday.
