Former MLB pitcher Trevor Bauer is doing all he can to get back to the bigs, attempting to spark that comeback attempt across a variety of international leagues.

On Sunday, he threw for Liga Mexicana de Beisbol affiliate Diablos Rojos in a spring training matchup against the Yankees. It offered a positive showing of his on-field abilities as he shut the Bronx Bombers down.

Bauer announced his plan to suit up for the Diablos Rojos earlier this month, highlighting the faceoff with New York as one of five upcoming LMB appearances.

Shortly after that announcement, an accuser blasted his comeback attempt while referencing his checkered past.

That history, of course, includes assault allegations which led to lengthy suspension while a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2021. He’s been out of Major League Baseball since.

As he’s attempted to revive his professional career, he’s spent a large majority of time pitching in Japan. Along the way, he’s marketed himself to pitcher-needy ballclubs as a “buy low” addition with a Cy Young resume.

On Sunday, he got the chance to showcase his skillset on the mound while facing MLB hitters once again.

Trevor Bauer shut out the Yankees in his spring training start.

The righty threw three scoreless innings while striking out a trio of New York hitters. He allowed four hits and two walks, but limited damage with runners on base.

Some notable names in that Yankees lineup included Jose Trevino, Giancarlo Stanton, and Anthony Volpe.

Bauer’s stuff still looked electric at points throughout the contest as Yankee batters failed to make contact.

While the job interview, of sorts, went well, it remains to be seen if MLB teams will take a chance on signing him.
