As the Monday Night Football Wild Card game between the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Bucs approaches, all of the attention remains focused on Dak Prescott.

Despite the Cowboys’ 12-5 record, no one seems particularly convinced that they can make a run in the playoffs, particularly due to the struggles of Prescott, who had the most interceptions in the league this year despite missing multiple games due to injury (15, tied with Houston Texans quarter Davis Millis).

Speaking to The Dallas Morning News, former Cowboys quarterback and Hall of Famer Troy Aikman discussed Prescott’s struggles and surmised that the 29-year-old signal-caller is lacking confidence.

“I see a quarterback that was not playing with a great deal of confidence. And I think that would be a bit of a concern going into this game. Can he get that back? And I think the key to it will be how does he start the game? Can Kellen Moore can he get him some easy completions on the road in a pretty electric environment to get him comfortable?” Aikman said.

“As a quarterback, you go into a game and things initially are happening really fast in my experience, sometimes not. But for the most part, you begin a game and the pass rush is moving fast, the secondary, all your looks, and then at some point, at least for me, I just I would hang in there and just know that at some point, the game is going to slow down.” [via The Dallas Morning News]

Making matters worse for Dak and the Cowboys is the fact that they’re heading into Tampa Bay to face off against a quarterback that’s never lacked confidence, particularly in the postseason: Tom Brady.

The Cowboys and the Bucs will face off on Monday, January 16 at 8:15 p.m.. The other matchups in the NFC include the Seahawks vs. 49ers on Saturday afternoon and the Giants vs. Vikings on Sunday. The Eagles, the #1 seed in the conference, have a bye week.
