Two new adults have been charged with murder in connection with the mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade last week.

Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced on Tuesday that two male adults, Lyndell Mays of Raytown and Dominic M. Miller of Kansas City, have been charged with second-degree felony murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

Mays was actually charged on Saturday, but requested the case be sealed by the court, which unsealed it on Tuesday. Miller was charged Monday night.

According to Baker, Mays and Miller did not know each other before the shooting. They were part of a group of people who were arguing when the “argument very quickly escalated to Mays” pulling out his gun and “almost immediately, others pulled their firearms.”

After others group pulled their guns, Miller fired his gun, killing bystander Lisa Lopez-Galvan.

KSHB News reports that a witness stated that Mays had a verbal confrontation with a group of four males who asked him what he was looking at.

Surveillance video captured Mays responding by aggressively approaching the group and pointing his finger angrily before circling behind another person and pulling out a gun, per court documents.

When he was questioned by police Mays, confirmed he drew a gun first.

Mays’ Glock 9mm handgun was discovered to be stolen out of KCMO.

Mays reportedly told police that he was hesitant to shoot because there were children were in the crowd. But he did it anyway, when someone said, “I’m going to get you.”

“Just pulled a gun out and started shooting. I shouldn’t have done that. Just being stupid,” Mays said.

Miller then shot back with a Taurus G3 9mm handgun after hearing gunfire, but he wasn’t sure if he hit the person he intended to shoot.

Both men are being held on $1 million bond and as of Tuesday were each still in the hospital with injuries suffered during the shooting.

This past Friday, three people, including two juveniles, were charged with firearms-related offenses.

“We seek to hold every shooter accountable for their actions that day,” Peters Baker said on Tuesday. “While we’re not there yet, we’re going to get there. We are not done yet.”

“Teams of detectives are working nonstop to ensure that anyone else responsible for the shooting is apprehended and that they receive the maximum punishment allowed by law,” Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves added.
