Here’s What Happens When An M67 Grenade Is Put Inside A Soda Vending Machine (Video)

Sometimes experiments must be done in the name of science even when there’s no glaringly obvious reason for that experiment. One such science experiment was just performed by Edwin Sarkissian who put a live M67 grenade inside a soda vending machine and filmed the explosion in slow-motion HD.

Edwin Sarkissian runs an immensely popular YouTube channel by the same name. He has amassed nearly 5 million subscribers with his unique ‘science experiments’ out in the desert. In July, Sarkissian tossed an M67 grenade into a swimming pool to see what the subaquatic explosion would look like.

What Happens When A Grenade Explodes Inside A Vending Machine

Whether or not we’ve been consciously aware of it, I believe on some level everyone has at some point pondered what an exploding vending machine might look like. Hollywood has filled our brains for decades with fancy pyrotechnic explosions filled with shrapnel flying in every direction. But never until now have we seen a real-life M67 grenace stuffed inside a vending machine:

Did the grenade inside of a vending machine explosion live up to the hype? Absolutely.

Edwin Sarkissian filmed it from multiple angles using high-definition cameras (and cellphones). Him being evidently nervous and having to settle his breath before running back to safety only enhanced the moment.

In the words of Leeloo Dallas (Multipass), it was a ‘Big Badda Boom.’ Unfortunately, an explosion of that size meant there was a LOT of cleanup afterward but the juice was worth the squeeze as that was an explosion for the ages.

Grenade Explodes Inside A Safe

Edwin Sarkissian often uses grenades in his videos. He also films science experiments with .50-cal rifles and grenade-tipped arrows.

This particular video of a grenade being ignited inside a safe is one of his most popular. It has racked up over 25 million views in the three years since he filmed it:

One has to imagine the Myth Busters sitting at home watching these clips and imagining the possibilities if they didn’t have safety monitors on set back in the day.
