  • The drama between Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers continues to drag on this NFL offseason
  • Last year’s NFL MVP, Rodgers is upset with the franchise for a few different reported reasons, and he’s standing his ground by refusing to show up to minicamp
  • ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler explains why the Packers don’t seem to be budging anytime soon, as they’ve refused to take calls for Rodgers

If you feel like everyday brings new drama to the Aaron Rodgers-Green Bay Packers situation, you’re kind of right. As the standoff continues between the future Hall of Famer and the iconic franchise, new reports seem to pop up about how or when this might all end. At the moment, though, nobody really knows.

What we do know is that Rodgers did not opt-out of the 2021 NFL season, which he had to do by Friday afternoon. Had the reigning NFL MVP done that, he would’ve guaranteed himself the majority of his contract. Now, it seems like the quarterback has lost a little bit of leverage — unless he wants to lose money via fine or suspension should he skip out of training camp. The outcome’s still TBD, though.

Regardless of what happens, we know Aaron Rodgers has reportedly threatened to either sit out or retire should he not get traded by the Packers. But will that happen? Is the team close to a deal? According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, not at all — and there’s a very good reason for that.

After Fowler recently said that there’s “no trade market” for Rodgers, the longtime NFL reporter took to Twitter to better explain why that is. And, to be honest, it’s because the Green Bay franchise just isn’t taking phone calls to even listen to offers.

So there you have it, folks. As expected, the Green Bay Packers are holding firm by refusing to give into Aaron Rodgers’ trade request. Considering the signal-caller’s a future Hall of Famer and coming off a season in which he led the team to the NFC Championship Game, none of this is surprising. Add in the NFL MVP award Rodgers won, and, well, he’s nearly untouchable.

Sure, there will be plenty of rumors continuing to swirl each and everyday about this drama, but nothing seems to be happening anytime soon. One of these sides is going to eventually budge. The safe guess is that Rodgers gives in and shows up to training camp later this month, but he’s clearly upset with what’s happened this NFL offseason. So buckle up and stay tuned, because this ride sure has plenty of bumps ahead.
