Yesterday was the NFL’s Hall of Fame Ceremony, where the likes of Randy Moss, Ray Lewis, and not Terell Owens flocked to Canton to receive the highest honor a football player can ever achieve.

It was an interesting day, to say the least. Ray Lewis made things a little weird when he said he still kisses his children on the mouth (which they immediately denied) before things got a little more awkward when people started to realize his bust looks nothing like him.

Given the circumstances, most people were dressed to the nines and pulled out all of the stops— especially Moss, who brought us one of the more notable moments of the day by revealing a custom tie bearing the names of black men and women who have been killed by police.

There were also plenty of gold jackets on display, and before the ceremony, Moss joked he was planning to take some inspiration from Patrick Reed and wear his to Walmart at some point.

While Moss might be a fan of overdressing, there is one man who is decidedly not: Bill Belichick, who might have reached peak levels of Belichick yesterday by pairing his finest khakis with the pair of flip-flops he decided to pull out for the ceremony.

People on Twitter responded about exactly how you’d expect them to.

Of course, anyone who knows anything about Belichick shouldn’t be too shocked by this.

A true man of the people, the coach knows it’s stupid to buy a vest when you can just cut the sleeves off of a sweatshirt.

If you’re not familiar with what caused Belichick to embrace his famous DGAF aesthetic in the first place, the origin story of his sideline outfit of choice is absolutely fantastic:

Reebok inked a reported $250 million deal as the official outfitter of the NFL in the early 2000s, one of the tenets of the contract was that coaches would wear their gear.

Belichick rejected the concept on principle, arguing that some NFL executive in New York shouldn’t be telling grown men how to dress…

Belichick purposefully chose what he believed was the least fashionable choice … the humble grey hoodie. He soon even chopped the sleeves off of it, often with crooked and sloppy cuts, perhaps in an effort to make it less attractive.

Never change, Bill. Never change.
