Conspiracy Theory That Aaron Rodgers Didn’t Really Tear His Achilles Gains Steam

A conspiracy theory that Aaron Rodgers didn’t actually tear his Achilles gained more traction on Tuesday thanks to the Dan Le Batard Show.

The conspiracy theory is a pretty reasonable one, as far as conspiracy theories go, due to the fact that…

(a) Aaron Rodgers is 39-years-old.
(b) It typically takes players 9 to 12 months to recover from surgery for a torn Achilles tendon.
(c) 46 days after his surgery Rodgers was back on the field dropping back and throwing passes.
(d) Monday night – 54 days since his surgery – he was again on the field doing drop backs, only this time he was launching the ball 55 yards.

Rodgers was also caught on a hot mic telling Chargers safety Derwin James, “give me a few weeks,” when James inquired as to when he would return to play.

Tuesday, on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers walked that claim back, claiming it was all “tongue-in-cheek” when he said a “few weeks.”

Also on Tuesday, The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz finally asked the question many NFL fans have been wondering: Did Aaron Rodgers really tear his Achilles?

“That is a great theory,” Le Batard said to show contributor Billy Gil. “I wish I was wearing some sort of costume. I’d be willing to seriously put out the conspiracy theory – better than the theory that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce is a propaganda concoction by the NFL to drive ratings – to throw out the conspiracy theory that Aaron Rodgers, since he went into the darkness retreat, all he found in the darkness is, ‘I must come back hellbent on beating science.’

The boys then even suggested that the whole public feud with Adam Schefter earlier this year was pre-arranged to obfuscate the fact that when Schefter reported the Achilles injury everyone would believe to be true without investigating further.

Interesting stuff to say the least.

I, however, have a different conspiracy theory.

Remember the one about Michael Jordan supposedly being suspended for gambling, but he and the NBA covered it up by claiming he “retired” for a year? What if the NFL and Rodgers are doing the same thing over something he did, be it using an illegal psychedelic drug or violating league rules during the pandemic or whatever and this is just a cover for him being suspended?

After all, literally nothing about Aaron Rodgers’ recovery from an injury that at his age really should have been the death knell of his NFL career, makes any sense.
