Oklahoma Linemen Troll Texas With Matching ‘Horns Down’ Tattoos After Beating Longhorns In Red River Showdown

The Red River Showdown has produced some absolutely wild contests between Oklahoma and Texas over the years, and we were treated to another one courtesy of the back-and-forth game that saw the Sooners leave the Cotton Bowl with a 34-30 win over the Longhorns—a victory a couple of guys on the winning team commemorated with matching “Horns Down” tattoos.

It looked like Texas might actually be Back heading into Saturday’s game, as the undefeated Longhorns were sitting at No. 3 in the AP rankings prior to a contest with a rival squad that was sitting at No. 12. However, the Sooners leaped to No. 5 with the win that saw them improve to 6-0 on the year and kept their College Football Playoff dreams alive.

Baker Mayfield was just one of the many Oklahoma fans in attendance who couldn’t stop himself from deploying the “Horns Down,” the inverted version of the “Hook ’em Horns” hand signal the Sooners faithful has traditionally harnessed to get under the skin of their sworn mortal enemies (which has become a contentious topic to the point where players can be penalized for deploying it during a game).

However, the QB has nothing on a couple of Oklahoma linemen who really took things to the next level after triumphing over Texas.

According to Oklahoma beat writer George Stoia III, sophomore LB Jaren Kanak and junior LB Danny Stutsman didn’t waste any time making the trek to a tattoo parlor where they got pieces of matching ink in the form of an upside-down Texas Longhorns logo that is now permanently and prominently featured on their left thigh.

I can’t help but respect Kanak and Stutsman for going out of their way to commit to this particular bit, as it’s hard to think of a better way to show how much you truly despise Texas than a “Horns Down” tattoo.
