It took Bryson DeChambeau 16 days to hit a hole-in-one over his house after he challenged himself to check that box last year. He was playing for pride, but a random guy who got the chance to do the same with $100,000 on the line didn’t waste much time cashing in after stepping up in the clutch.
It’s kind of wild to think Bryson DeChambeau was viewed as a pretty divisive figure in the world of golf just a few years ago, but his reputation has undergone a dramatic overhaul thanks in no small part to his decision to launch a YouTube channel filled with videos highlighting the personality of a golfer who comes off as a pretty affable guy.
DeChambeau has also amassed a pretty sizeable following on TikTok and Instagram, which served as the platforms chronicling his quest to hit a hole-in-one over the home he constructed on a 2.5-acre property in Grapevine, Texas that features a green in his backyard.
The golfer set out to achieve that feat last November and hit a grand total of 134 shots over the course of 16 days before finally sinking one.
A random dude named Jimmy got the chance to replicate that feat in a recent video where DeChambeua gave some lucky golfers a chance to get some of the $150,000 he put up for grabs in connection to various challenges—including the $100k that was on the line for the hole-in-one over his home.
DeChambeau offered Jimmy seven hours to make the 95-yard shot over his glass-covered house (he erected a net in the hopes of preventing any windows from being broken) and predicted it would take him exactly five hours and 43 minutes to make it.
Jimmy, on the other hand, thought he’d be able to hit the hole-in-one in less than five hours—and he was definitely right about that when you consider it only took him five shots and less than four minutes to hit a shot with a 58° wedge that landed a few feet away from the cup before rolling in.
Must be nice.
