Disgraced Ohio State Assistant Coach Zach Smith Has Added Another Arrest To His Impressively Pathetic Résumé

The Ohio State football program will be heading into this season without the services of Urban Meyer, who announced his retirement ahead of the most recent Rose Bowl thanks in no small part to a series of scandals that would make Shonda Rhimes jealous.

You could be forgiven if you forgot about one of his former players coming forward and saying the coach turn a blind eye to some very questionable tactics when he was still at Florida thanks to Zach Smith, a noted shithead and former Ohio State wide receivers coach who managed to make Meyer’s life pretty miserable.

Last summer, Meyer found himself in the middle of a crap tornado after it was revealed he decided the best way to deal with discovering Smith allegedly beat his wife is to act like it never happened at all before issuing a bullshit apology and doing everything in your power to avoid repercussions before getting your comeuppance in the form of a three-game suspension.

I don’t even know who’s classier (just kidding; it’s the guy who almost certainly beat his wife).

While Smith was never actually arrested for abuse, there’s also some other evidence that he isn’t exactly the most stand-up dude in the world—he purportedly hurled a racial slur at a player during practice, and while Meyer threatened to sue the reporter who brought those allegations to light, Smith has done literally nothing to earn the benefit of the doubt in my eyes.

When we last checked in with Smith, he was going on a Twitter rampage directed at Texas coach Tom Herman, who was rumored to be the person who brought the domestic incident to light in the first place.

So how are things going for Zach these days? Not great!

According to Sports Illustrated, Smith was recently arrested at his children’s’ elementary school after causing a scene while trying to pick up his kids for violating a civil protection order that said he was decidedly not allowed to do that.

The charge itself is a misdemeanor, and while it’s unclear if he’ll be convicted, Zach now has at least ten police reports under his belt related to various incidents in the past.

I wish him nothing but the worst.
