Battle royale video games are currently as popular as they are profitable, and titles like Fortnite have done a fantastic job drawing in fans with hidden secrets and impressive tie-ins to the point where other video games are thinking about pivoting to a similar style. There’s a very good chance that you know someone who’s very into Fortnite, which tends to be almost everyone who picks up the game.
One of those people is Boston Red Sox pitcher David Price, who has spent a sizeable chunk of time playing the game in the clubhouse with the rest of his teammates. However, he suffered a bit of a setback recently after being diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome— and some people are suggesting his Fortnite addiction could be to blame.
On Thursday, Price announced that he was putting down the controller and stepping away from the console mostly due to the amount of speculation that playing the game resulted in the diagnosis.
Price said he will no longer play Fortnite at the ballpark because he is aware the topic has been a distraction last couple of days.

I’m glad to see the members of the Boston media are still doing their thing after all these years. While they might want to blame everything on video games (as old people love to do), Price denies the charges that Fortnite led to injury:
“This is just something that happened over time. This didn’t stem from any one thing. I’m born in 1985, so that’s the video games generation. Being a Red Sox is the least amount of video games I’ve ever played being in Major League Baseball.”
I’d like to extend my condolences to Price in what must be a very difficult time.
