Internet Has Some Wild Reactions To News That Jeff Bezos Is Getting Married Again

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez are engaged.

The 59-year-old billionaire reportedly proposed to the 53-year-old, ummm, media personality while on board his ridiculous $500 million superyacht with a mermaid resembling Sanchez on its bow.

Bezos and Sanchez began dating in 2018, several months before his divorce from then-wife MacKenzie Scott was finalized.

Despite the impending nuptials, Jeff Bezos still plans on launching Lauren Sanchez into space in 2024 as the leader of an all-female crew.

“It’s going to be women who are making a difference in the world and who are impactful and have a message to send,’” Sánchez told the Wall Street Journal. “I’m super excited about it. And a little nervous. I’ve wanted to be in the rocket from the jump, so he is excited to make this happen with all of these women.”

The Amazon founder’s divorce from his wife of 24 years made her the seventh richest person in the world at the time.

His ability to negotiate the divorce settlement was made more difficult by the fact that the National Enquirer attempted to extort him by threatening to post “intimate” photos after publishing racy text messages from Bezos to Sanchez while he was still married.

Lauren Sanchez’s brother Michael ended up suing Bezos for defamation after claiming he was “scapegoated” and falsely accused of leaking the nude photos and texts.

MacKenzie Scott went on to get married for a second time in 2021 to a science teacher and proceeded to give away billions upon billions of her wealth before getting divorced again in 2023.

Considering his massive wealth and how much of it he lost in his divorce, many folks on the internet expressed concern over marriage number two for Jeff Bezos. Oh, and they also made jokes. Lot and lots of jokes.

“Have they updated his net worth to 1/2 of current value on Wikipedia?” another person joked.

“If ever in human history a prenup is needed. This is one of those times,” someone else suggested.
