This year, we were treated to one of the wildest Super Bowls in recent memory thanks to the New England Patriots and the New Orleans Saints, who—

Wait. What’s that? Oh. Right.

What I meant to say was this year’s Super Bowl was an absolute snoozefest that will be best remembered for how quickly people forgot about it, and while there’s no way to say if things would have been different if the Brady Bunch had taken on the Saints, I doubt it could have been much worse.

Sadly, we never got the chance to see how that would have played out thanks to one of the most atrocious no-calls in the history of the NFL that robbed New Orleans of the chance to essentially seal the NFC Championship.

Thankfully, Saints fans reacted calmly and rationally to getting robbed, and by that, I mean they assaulted televisions, decided to boycott the Big Game, and even filed a lawsuit to overturn the final result.

At the time, I described that lawsuit as a “hail mary” because I’m an infinitely clever person but it turns out it might not have been as desperate as I thought, as according to NoLa.com, a recent court ruling may result in Roger Goodell having to put his ass on the hot seat.

The commissioner—who theoretically had the power to overturn the result of the game and stayed suspiciously silent before ultimately attempting to explain himself—may now be forced to testify after the judge denied the NFL’s motion to dismiss and ruled the plaintiff in the case can begin the discovery process.

It’s unclear what the fallout would be if the court ultimately decides to hold the NFL responsible but the league has already done what it can to make amends by insituting new pass interference rules this season that are already confusing the hell out of everyone.

If this is even half as entertaining as Deflategate we should be in for a pretty good time.
